These 5 Stunts Performed By Bollywood Actors Prove They

Let's be honest - Bollywood just isn't the same without over-the-top action sequences. Even during the old dishoom-dishoom era of action movies,

Bollywood's stunt performers have retained a long legacy full of breathtaking action cinema moments, and more than a few broken bones. Some stars, however, have made it a point to go the extra mile and perform stunts themselves. Here's a few of the most iconic Bollywood daredevils you'll find in the industry:

Akshay Kumar

No surprise here - the Khiladi star earned his famous nickname for a reason, and we're sure it has something to do with his entire acting career featuring incredible stunts of all kinds. He's put a taekwondo black-belt to use in fight scenes, skydived, swam with sharks and suffered burns, slipped discs and several more injuries - no wonder he's the host of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.

Ajay Devgn

Perhaps the only actor on this list to have a 'signature move' when it comes to stunts, Devgn was well-steeped in Bollywood's stunt industry being the son of legendary stuntman and action director, Veeru Devgan. The aforementioned move was in the opening shots of his very first film - Phool Aur Kaante, where Devgn performed a perfect split - between two moving motorcycles.

In subsequent years, he went on to cement a reputation in the industry for recreating this stunt - in between two cars in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal series, as well as 2019's De De Pyaar De.

Vidyut Jamwal

Ever since his debut alongside John Abraham in 2014's Force, Vidyut Jamwal has proven some pretty serious expertise in two things. He has consistently performed some of the best parkour work in Bollywood - performing somersaults over moving vehicles, vaulting through windows and using stuntmen's bodies as setups to moves you'd expect to see in WWE.

Perhaps the origin of this talent comes from his training in the world's oldest martial art, Kalaripattayu. He has been involved with the technique ever since the age of three, at his mother's ashram.

Priyanka Chopra

While Priyanka Chopra gained a lot of worldwide acclaim for performing her own stunts in Quantico, she alludes her comfort with working on stunts to her experiences in Bollywood.

While her repertoire of stunt work was most-highlighted in Mary Kom, Quantico seriously upped the ante with its fight scenes, guns and vehicle stunts - Chopra was even rushed to the ER back in 2017 for a concussion she suffered on set during one of these shoots.

Hrithik Roshan

Back in his early 20s, Hrithik Roshan was diagnosed with scoliosis - a spine disorder that doctors told him would prevent him from dancing or performing stunts in films. Despite this, not only is he one of the industry's most lauded dancers - he's also performed some truly incredible stunts throughout the last two decades.

With some of his best work featured in his recent action thriller, War, at the age of 45, he's still at the top of his game with 4 stunt directors and everything from high-speed chases to fight scenes.

Despite this intense dedication, Roshan has also paid a serious price to do his own stunts - back in 2013, the actor suffered a serious injury while filming in Thailand - resulting in him needing brain surgery, much like Jackie Chan during his earlier career.

Both actors are still alive and very much kicking.
